Welcome to TravelBear! These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the TravelBear mobile application
and related services. By using TravelBear, you agree to these Terms.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using TravelBear, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy.
If you do not agree, do not use the app.
2. Description of Service
TravelBear is a travel expense tracking and budget management application that provides:
- Multi-currency expense tracking
- AI-powered expense logging (voice and receipt scanning)
- Trip budget management and analytics
- Expense splitting for group travel
- Offline-first functionality with optional cloud sync
- Trip sharing and collaboration features
- Expense reports and PDF export
3. User Accounts
3.1 Account Creation
You may use TravelBear in offline mode without an account. To enable cloud sync and trip sharing, you must
create an account using:
- Email and password
- Google OAuth
- Apple Sign-In
3.2 Account Security
You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
- All activities that occur under your account
- Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized access
4. Acceptable Use
4.1 You Agree To:
- Use TravelBear for personal travel expense tracking
- Provide accurate information
- Comply with all applicable laws and regulations
- Respect other users' privacy when sharing trips
4.2 You Agree NOT To:
- Use the app for illegal activities or fraud
- Attempt to hack, reverse engineer, or compromise the app
- Upload malicious code, viruses, or harmful content
- Spam, harass, or abuse other users
- Share your account credentials with others
- Scrape, copy, or misuse app content or data
- Use the app to track expenses for illegal transactions
5. Subscription & Payment
5.1 Paid Subscription Required
TravelBear is a paid application that requires an active subscription to access and use. Pricing and subscription
options are displayed in the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android) and may vary by region.
5.2 Payment Terms
- Subscriptions are processed through Apple App Store or Google Play Store
- Subscriptions auto-renew unless canceled 24 hours before renewal
- Refunds are subject to Apple/Google store policies
- We reserve the right to change pricing with advance notice
6. Data & Privacy
6.1 Your Data
You retain ownership of all data you create in TravelBear (trips, expenses, receipts). Our use of your data
is governed by our Privacy Policy.
6.2 Data Backup & User Responsibility
YOU ARE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR MAINTAINING BACKUPS OF YOUR DATA.
TravelBear is provided on a "best effort" basis. While we take reasonable measures to protect your data,
we strongly recommend:
- Regularly exporting your trip data to PDF or CSV
- Maintaining your own backup copies of important expense records
- Not relying solely on TravelBear for critical financial or business records
WE DO NOT GUARANTEE DATA INTEGRITY, AVAILABILITY, OR RECOVERABILITY. You acknowledge that
data loss may occur due to technical issues, sync failures, server problems, or other unforeseen circumstances,
and you agree that we bear no liability for such loss.
7. AI Services
7.1 Voice & Receipt Processing
TravelBear uses AI services (OpenAI, Google Cloud) to process voice memos and receipt images. These services
are provided "as-is" and may have limitations:
- AI accuracy is not guaranteed
- You should verify AI-extracted expense data
- Voice/receipt processing requires internet connection
- Processing times may vary
8. Shared Trips & Collaboration
8.1 Trip Invitations
When you invite others to a shared trip:
- Invited users can view and add expenses to the shared trip
- You can remove members or revoke access at any time
- You are responsible for managing trip permissions
8.2 Private Expenses
You can mark expenses as "private" to hide them from other trip members. Private expenses are visible only to you.
9. Intellectual Property
9.1 TravelBear Ownership
TravelBear and all related trademarks, logos, designs, and content are owned by us. You may not use our
intellectual property without permission.
9.2 Your Content
You retain ownership of content you create (expense descriptions, notes, photos). By using the app, you grant
us a license to store, process, and display your content to provide the service.
10. Third-Party Services
TravelBear integrates with third-party services:
- Exchange rate data providers (fixer.io, Open Exchange Rates)
- Cloud storage (AWS, Google Cloud)
- AI services (OpenAI, Google Cloud Speech)
- Analytics (Google Analytics)
These services have their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party services.
11. Disclaimers & Limitations
11.1 No Warranty - "AS IS" Service
TRAVELBEAR IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED,
INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We explicitly disclaim all warranties and do not guarantee:
- Data Integrity: That your data will be accurate, complete, or free from corruption
- Data Availability: That your data will be accessible at all times or recoverable after loss
- Service Uptime: Uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free service
- Cloud Sync Reliability: That cloud synchronization will work flawlessly or preserve all data
- AI Accuracy: That AI-processed data (voice, receipt scanning) will be correct or complete
- Currency Data: That exchange rates will be accurate, current, or suitable for financial decisions
- Backup Success: That backups or exports will complete successfully
- Device Compatibility: Compatibility with all devices, OS versions, or future updates
- Bug-Free Operation: That the app will be free from errors, bugs, or security vulnerabilities
BEST EFFORT SERVICE: We provide TravelBear on a "best effort" basis. While we strive to deliver a
reliable service, we make no promises or guarantees about data preservation, service availability, or feature functionality.
11.2 Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, TRAVELBEAR AND ITS DEVELOPERS, OWNERS, AND AFFILIATES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES WHATSOEVER, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Data Loss: Any loss, corruption, deletion, or inability to access your trip data, expenses, receipts, or any other content
- Business or Financial Losses: Lost profits, revenue, business opportunities, contracts, or financial damages resulting from data loss or app malfunction
- Sync Failures: Cloud sync failures, data conflicts, or synchronization errors resulting in lost or duplicated data
- Service Interruptions: Temporary or permanent unavailability of the app, cloud services, or any features
- AI Inaccuracies: Errors in AI-processed data (voice memos, receipt scanning) or incorrect expense categorization
- Currency Conversion Errors: Inaccurate exchange rates, failed currency conversions, or financial discrepancies
- Third-Party Services: Failures, errors, or issues with third-party services (AI providers, cloud storage, exchange rate APIs)
- Device Issues: Data loss due to device failure, theft, damage, factory reset, or OS updates
- Indirect, Incidental, Special, or Consequential Damages: Any damages beyond direct damages, even if we were advised of the possibility
AGGREGATE LIABILITY CAP: Our total liability to you for any claims arising from your use of TravelBear
shall not exceed the amount you paid for your subscription in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $100 USD,
whichever is less.
USE AT YOUR OWN RISK: You expressly acknowledge and agree that you use TravelBear at your own risk.
The app is not intended for mission-critical, life-safety, or business-critical applications. Do not rely solely on
TravelBear for important financial records, tax documentation, or business expense tracking without maintaining
independent backups.
11.3 Financial Advice Disclaimer
TravelBear is a tool for tracking expenses and managing budgets. It does not provide financial, tax, or legal
advice. Consult a professional for financial guidance.
12. Termination
12.1 Termination by You
You may stop using TravelBear at any time. To delete your account and data:
- Go to Settings → Account → Delete Account
- Contact us at support@travelbear.app
12.2 Termination by Us
We may suspend or terminate your account if you:
- Violate these Terms
- Engage in fraudulent or abusive behavior
- Fail to pay subscription fees
13. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via:
- In-app notifications
- Email (if cloud sync is enabled)
- Updated "Last Updated" date on this page
Continued use of TravelBear after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of California, without regard to
conflict of law principles.
15. Dispute Resolution
15.1 Informal Resolution
If you have a dispute, please contact us at support@travelbear.app. We'll work to resolve it informally.
15.2 Arbitration
If informal resolution fails, disputes will be resolved through binding arbitration rather than court litigation,
except where prohibited by law.

17. Severability

regarding the use of the app.
By using TravelBear, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms of Service.
